Message from Gennaro Gattuso to Siniša Mihajlović

I can say with pride that I was friends with Siniša Mihajlović.
There was respect and affection between us that united us, even though we were never teammates.
I think that today we shouldn't cry because of his loss, as he wouldn't want that: Rather we should show the respect that that the farewell of a man like him deserves.  Respect is shown by remembering what he has always showed: I remember many photos of Siniša with his large family, many images of his players close to him in the most difficult moments, and for me this is "being a man", being able to transmit your own values and make those around you learn to share them because you have been an example for everyone.

Posso con orgoglio affermare di essere stato amico si Siniša Mihajlović.
Tra di noi c’era rispetto e stima reciproca che ci univa anche se non siamo mai stati compagni di squadra.
Penso che oggi non si debba piangere per la sua scomparsa, lui non vorrebbe: verso di lui occorre invece quel rispetto che si deve alla scomparsa di un uomo come lui. Ed il rispetto si dimostra ricordando ciò che ha sempre insegnato: ricordo tante foto di Siniša con la sua  numerosa famiglia, tanti immagini dei suoi calciatori stretti intorno a lui nei momenti più difficili, ed è questo per me “l’essere uomo”, esser capace di trasmettere ì proprio valori e far sì che chi ti circonda impari a condividerli perché per tutti sei stato un esempio.
